Troubleshooting

Start with the console. BusyTab says what it hooked at startup and warns about config values it couldn't read.

Startup messages

Message Meaning
Hooked into PlaceholderAPI. PlaceholderAPI placeholders are available
Hooked into Vault/VaultUnlocked. A Vault chat or permission provider was found
Hooked into LuckPerms. LuckPerms placeholders and sorting are available
Hooked into Essentials. %busytab_afk% is available
Hooked into Nexo for glyph tags. <glyph:...> tags are available

A missing line means that plugin isn't installed, isn't enabled, or for Vault, no permission plugin has registered with it.

Could not remove BusyTab's scoreboard teams: ... Shown at shutdown. Teams are cleaned up on the next start instead

A plugin I installed isn't hooked

BusyTab looks for other plugins once, at startup. /busytab reload only re-reads config.yml. Restart the server after installing or updating PlaceholderAPI, Vault, LuckPerms, EssentialsX or Nexo.

My config change did nothing

  1. Run /busytab reload.
  2. Check the console for a YAML error. A file with a YAML error can't be loaded, and BusyTab then uses built-in defaults.
  3. Check that text values are wrapped in single quotes.

Checking scoreboard teams

To see what BusyTab applied to a player, run this in the console:

/team list

BusyTab's teams start with bt-rank-. A player with no bt-rank- team is being moved by another plugin, or both rank-order and nametag are off.
