FAQ
Do I need PlaceholderAPI?
Not to run BusyTab, but the default config uses it for %player_name%, %server_online%,
%server_max_players% and %player_ping%. Install it, or remove those placeholders. See
PlaceholderAPI.
Does it work on Spigot?
No. BusyTab needs Paper, Purpur or Folia on 1.21 or newer.
Can I change the name above a player's head?
You can add a prefix and suffix and set the name's color. The name in the middle is always the real player name; Minecraft doesn't allow replacing it. See Nametags.
Can the nametag name use a hex color or gradient?
No. The name takes one of the 16 named colors. The prefix and suffix can use any color, gradient or glyph.
Can I have different headers per world or per rank?
No. There is one header and one footer. They can show different values per player through placeholders.
Does BusyTab change chat?
No. It changes the tab list and nametags only. Vanilla messages that name a player, such as death messages, do include the nametag prefix and suffix.
How do I sort staff to the top?
List your groups in rank-order, highest first. See Rank Sorting.
How do I show LuckPerms prefixes instead of group names?
Replace &8[&e%vault_rank%&8] with %luckperms_prefix% in tablist-name-format and
nametag.prefix.
Will updating reset my config?
No. BusyTab never rewrites config.yml. New settings use their defaults until you add them. See
Main Configuration.
Does BusyTab collect statistics?
Yes. It sends usage statistics to FastStats, a metrics service for plugin developers.
