PlaceholderAPI
With PlaceholderAPI installed, every
placeholder from every installed expansion works in the header, footer, player names and
nametags. BusyTab detects it at startup and logs Hooked into PlaceholderAPI.
Expansions for the default config
The default config.yml uses four PlaceholderAPI placeholders. Install their expansions once:
/papi ecloud download Player
/papi ecloud download Server
/papi reload
| Placeholder | Expansion |
|---|---|
%player_name%, %player_ping% |
Player |
%server_online%, %server_max_players% |
Server |
What BusyTab answers itself
The built-in placeholders are replaced before PlaceholderAPI sees the line, so they work without it and without any expansion.
BusyTab does not register a PlaceholderAPI expansion of its own. %busytab_afk% and
%busytab_tps% only work inside BusyTab's config, not in other plugins.
Without PlaceholderAPI
BusyTab still runs. Built-in placeholders work, and any other placeholder is shown as raw text,
such as %player_name%. Remove those from your config if you don't plan to install
PlaceholderAPI.
⚠️ Slow expansions
Placeholders are resolved for every online player on every refresh. BusyTab does this off the main thread, so a slow expansion delays tab updates instead of lagging the server. An expansion that isn't safe to call off the main thread can still misbehave. See the Performance Guide.
