Gemstones

Gemstones

The gem module. Each of six ores drops its own gemstone tier. Gemstones drop unexamined, and right-clicking one reveals its quality, which sets its sell price. Config file: modules/gem/config.yml.

Drops

yaml
Gemstones:
  DropChances:
    Tier1: 2.0
    Tier2: 2.0
    Tier3: 2.0
    Tier4: 2.0
    Tier5: 2.0
    Tier6: 2.0
  Blocks:
    Tier1: COAL_ORE
    Tier2: REDSTONE_ORE
    Tier3: NETHER_QUARTZ_ORE
    Tier4: LAPIS_ORE
    Tier5: EMERALD_ORE
    Tier6: DIAMOND_ORE
  • DropChances: percent chance per ore broken, per tier.
  • Blocks: the ore that drops each tier. Names match partially, so DIAMOND_ORE also covers DEEPSLATE_DIAMOND_ORE. An exact match wins over a partial one.

Luck (+0.5% per level), Xostran's Glare and Variant's Wrath (below Y 0) add to the chance. Xostran's Glare at max level can drop two gemstones at once.

Examining and quality

Right-click an unexamined gemstone to examine it. The roll picks a quality:

Roll (1-100) Quality Default multiplier
1-30 Ruined 0.7
31-50 Badly Damaged 0.8
51-70 Damaged 0.9
71-90 Worn 1.2
91+ Pristine 1.5

The Singularity's Gem Seeker perk adds 5 to the roll per point, pushing results toward Pristine. The first time a player examines each gemstone type, it's added to their Journal collection.

yaml
  SellPrices:
    Tier1: 500.0
    Tier2: 750.0
    Tier3: 1000.0
    Tier4: 1500.0
    Tier5: 2000.0
    Tier6: 2500.0
  QualityMultipliers:
    Ruined: 0.7
    BadlyDamaged: 0.8
    Damaged: 0.9
    Worn: 1.2
    Pristine: 1.5

An examined gemstone sells for SellPrices × QualityMultipliers. An unexamined one sells for the base price, so examining is a gamble: Ruined through Damaged are worth less than not examining.

Examined gemstones are also an ingredient for Mining Tomes, where a Pristine gem gives a higher tome level.

Names

yaml
  '1':
    Name: "&aPeridot"
Description: "&7This bright Gemstone lights the way."

Tiers 1-6 default to Peridot, Ruby, Topaz, Amethyst, Sapphire and Tiger's Eye. The Journal tracks discoveries by name, so renaming a gemstone after launch resets that entry in every player's collection.
