FAQ
Do I need the Dreamlight Fishing Rod?
No. A vanilla rod fishes ripples exactly the same, and so do most modded rods. The Dreamlight rod is an animated rod with the vanilla recipe layout. See Items.
Does it replace vanilla fishing?
Only on ripples. Cast into plain water and you get normal vanilla fishing, loot included.
Does it work on servers?
Yes, on dedicated Fabric servers. It has to be installed on the server and on every client. See Multiplayer Servers.
Does it work in singleplayer?
Yes. Install it like any client mod; singleplayer runs both sides for you.
Are there any commands or permissions?
No. Everything is played through fishing and the journal keybind (J). Settings are in
config/dreamlight_fishing.json.
Does Luck of the Sea help?
With loot, yes: the rod is passed to the loot table, so it works as in vanilla. With ripple tiers, no. Ripple tiers use the Luck attribute, which comes from the Luck status effect, not from the enchantment.
How do I unlock Legendary ripples?
Catch all 10 starting species so your journal reaches 100%. Gold ripples then spawn near you in any biome. See Milestones & Legendary Tier.
Is the journal shared with my friends?
No. Each player has their own journal, milestones and Legendary unlock.
Can I change what each ripple gives?
Yes, with a data pack. See Custom Loot Tables.
Can I add my own fish?
Yes. Add a species file and put its item in a loot table. See Custom Fish Species.
Can I eat the new fish?
Not yet. The custom fish are collectibles with no food value or recipes.
Which Minecraft versions are supported?
1.21.11 only, on Fabric. See Requirements.
